Dozens of motorcycle riders lined the road heading into Arizona's National Memorial Cemetery Monday.

The group was greeting family members visiting the graves of their loved ones, and also welcoming people to the ceremony held at the cemetery.

What a morning to be out to honor those who've given their lives. State dignitaries and families from all over the valley spent the morning at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.

With the release of white doves, men and women who've given their lives were honored at the National Memorial Cemetery.

"We gather to remember and honor those courageous service men and women who gave their lives to defend our freedom and advance our most sacred values," said Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer.

The pledge of allegiance, color guard, and with full honors, thousands paid tribute. The placing of wreaths and then a very special flight over the cemetery in north Phoenix. You could see and hear the planes overhead.

"Today and for eternity let us make certain their sacrifice was not made in vain we are blessed to be Americans blessed to be able to work raise our children in the freest country this world has ever known," said Brewer.

There were about 200 motorcyclists with Riders USA who put flags up at the cemetery. Most flags are sponsored by a family who's lost someone in the military.

Native American veterans were also honored Monday. Friends and family of fallen veterans gathered at the Heard Museum to pay tribute to their loved ones. The ceremony included an honor drum song as well as the showing of the movie Native American Veterans.
