Suspect sought in senseless hit-and-run of 11-year-old boy

PHOENIX -

The search continues for a hit-and-run driver who killed an 11-year-old boy. Police say the driver backed over the little boy, stopped to pull him out from under the car, then ran away.

His neighbors are furious. They can't understand how someone could pull this little boy out from under the SUV and then just take off.

A memorial is growing for the 11-year-old, built up of action figures and teddy bears. Kids who live at this apartment complex gave up their toys to turn them into a memorial Enoc Quijada. The kids called him Little Ruby.

The boy was killed Saturday night.

"He was an angel, very friendly, loved to play with other kids. he had a great smile, a great laugh," says Darlene Brownlee.

Darlene Brownlee say Little Ruby loved to come over and play with her corgi, Steamboat.

"She would jump on him and give him kisses like you wouldn't believe."

On Saturday night, Enoc was walking through the parking lot at the Fountain Apartments with his mom. A suspected drunk driver got behind the wheel of a silver Isuzu.

Police say the driver didn't take the club off the steering wheel and pulled out of a parking space, running over Enoc and hitting a wall. The driver stopped, pulled Enoc out from under the SUV then walked away.

"People just want to get him and just put him away in jail," says Klayvonne Hardeman.

"Hello you just hit a child, what's wrong with you, what on earth are you thinking?" says Brownlee.

Police will only say the driver is a black male.

Residents at the complex are planning on holding a raffle to help Enoc's family pay for his funeral. Anyone with information is asked to call Silent Witness.
