It's the biggest news that's been dropped in years at Busch Gardens in Tampa. It's tall, it's fast, and guaranteed to bring heart-stopping thrills to Tampa. This will be one big bird that will be unlike any other at Busch Gardens. This one you can ride -- if you can stomach the drop.
The park announced 'Falcon's Fury,' a new drop-tower attraction, on Tuesday.
"As you climb nearly 300 feet above Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, the reality of what's happening begins to set in," says the voice ominously in the YouTube video.
The terrifying reality is that you're about to drop from your birds-eye view of Tampa, careening 60 miles per hour to the ground below, face-down.
Are you ready to feel the Falcon's Fury? If you've ever seen our SkyTower Omni radar ball on Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa, just imagine, this drop tower will be at least a hundred feet taller than that.
Busch Gardens President Jim Dean said once you are lifted up to a spectacular view of Tampa, you will drop and soar like Superman all the way to the ground.
"It's gonna be the tallest tower and North America," said Dean. "This will be over a hundred feet taller than SheiKra."
The Falcon's Fury is being built right now in the Timbuktu area of the park, but will not be open until the spring of 2014.
Busch Gardens last week announced a $5 increase in regular adult ticket prices, to $89 per day.
