Tucson babysitter gets jail for infant's death

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson babysitter convicted of negligent homicide for leaving an infant girl unattended in a bathtub has been sentenced to one year in jail.

Pima County prosecutors say Zada Marie Davis also was sentenced Monday to four years' probation.

Davis was convicted in April for leaving 10-month-old Winter Breeze Azure in a bathtub with the water running for at least 40 minutes while she was babysitting the child in June 2012.

The Arizona Daily Star (http://bit.ly/18TxOFP) says Davis also has been ordered by a judge to seek mental health treatment and complete 400 hours of community service.

She also must earn a GED, complete parenting classes and not work as a caretaker for children or vulnerable adults in the future.
