PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona's unemployment rate has dropped to 7.8%.
State Department of Administration economists reported Thursday that the 7.8% jobless rate last month compares with 7.9% in April and 8.4% in May 2012.
Economists say 8 of the 11 major sectors in Arizona added jobs last month with construction leading the way with 6,200 jobs.
However, the state had a net loss of 200 jobs in May as government lost 10,000 jobs while the private sector gained 9,800 jobs.
Losses in government were seen in local higher education as they reduced staffing levels for the summer break.
