Sandy Springs police say home invasions connected

Posted: Updated:
SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -

Sandy Springs police are searching for suspects who could be responsible for two recent home invasions.

The first incident occurred at a home on Heards Ferry Road just before 11 p.m. on June 7. A teenager said he was confronted by a man with a black ski mask and white gloves. He was wearing a gray jump suit and had a black semi-automatic gun with "chipped off paint on it," police said.

The teenager was tied up with zip ties while another person, and possibly a third suspect, went through the home and left with some jewelry.   Minutes later, the victim's brother and mother arrived home in separate cars. The brother said he saw a sedan pulling out of the driveway as he pulled in, police said.

Authorities believe the suspects entered and exited the house through an unlocked door.

Another home invasion was reported on Powers Ferry Road in south Sandy Springs just after 10:30 p.m. on June 19.

A homeowner said he was confronted by two men who entered through an open garage bay door, police said. The victim was taken to the master bedroom, where he was bound with zip ties. The suspects then demanded that the victim tell them where his jewelry was.

The suspects were in the home for about 10 minutes, the victim said. They were described each as black males, 5-11" to 6-0", skinny to muscular build, wearing all black clothing. Both suspects wore gloves and black ski masks that showed only their eyes, police said.

The victim reported that jewelry and a small amount of cash were taken in the second home invasion.

Authorities believe that the two invasions are connected and that they were not random.
