Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A switching problem has caused "extensive" delays on numerous Metra lines.

Inbound and outbound trains on the Milwaukee District North Line, Milwaukee District West Line, North Central Service and Union Pacific West Line trains are delayed because of ongoing switching problems at Western Avenue, according to Metra.

Milwaukee District North Line train No. 2125 is running 13 minutes late and train Nos. 2127, 2129, 2131 and 2133 have not yet departed the city, Metra said.

On the Milwaukee District West Line, train No. 2223 to the Big Timber station is running about 40 minutes late, train No. 2225 to the Mannheim station is running about 35 minutes late, and train Nos. 2227 and 2229 have not yet departed Chicago, according to Metra.

North Central Service and Union Pacific West Line trains are also experiencing "extensive" delays because of the switching problems, Metra said.

It was not immediately known when the switching problems would be fixed.
