DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

DeKalb County has a new police precinct honoring a fallen officer.

Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the Derwin Brown South Precinct on Friday.

Sheriff-elect Brown was gunned down outside of his home in 2000. He had served DeKalb County in law enforcement for more than two decades.

A jury convicted defeated DeKalb County Sheriff Sidney Dorsey of ordering Brown's assassination.
