Several streets flooded inside Woodhaven mobile home park

WOODHAVEN, Mich. (WJBK) -

This week's rains have left several streets flooded at the Woodhaven Place mobile home park on Van Horn Road.

"We parked up by the mailboxes because we can't get our car home, so we have to walk in it," said Judi Maegerlein. "It's up to my knees."

Many residents said they are trapped. They can't leave their homes because they can't drive through the flooding.

"A car stalled right over on the next street trying to get through it," Maegerlein said.

Amber Adams' husband is a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He will leave for a tour of duty in Afghanistan in August. She wants to move in with him on base, but said she has been unable to find a moving company to agree to come into the community because of all the flooding.

"I can't even get my PT Cruiser out because it will stall. I can't get my mom's car out because it will get stuck," she said.

We found the park management office closed for the weekend and left a phone message.

In the meantime, trash has been floating past many mobile homes.

"This is bad because we've got trash floating. You've got kids out here playing. It's unsanitary," said Belinda Cooley.

Residents are also concerned that traffic on the streets could push water towards their homes.
