Shopping to escape the extreme heat

Posted: Updated:

People across the valley are doing all sorts of things to keep cool during the triple digit weather, including a little shopping.

It was pretty crowded at Arrowhead Towne Center Friday as people ducked out of the hot weather and into the cool air conditioned shopping mall.

It gave children a chance to talk their parents into buying new toys and others an excuse for a new outfit.

There aren't many options when it comes to avoiding temperatures well above 100 degrees, but spending a little cold hard cash is the answer for some.

"Oh it's really hot outside, it's hard for the little kids to find something to do with them, to keep them busy.. it's so hot outside," said Lora Price.  "118 is a bit much for the kids and for everybody."

More warm weather is expected throughout the weekend.
