VILLA PARK, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

An attack on an elderly woman walking away from her car Sunday evening was one of a few such incidents reported to police in west suburban Villa Park that day.

At about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Villa Park police responded to the 1500 block of South Ardmore, where an elderly woman said she was walking from her vehicle when a man approached from behind and placed his hand over her mouth, a statement from police said. The victim screamed and the man ran away.

That wasn't the only such incident Sunday. According to Villa Park police, the DuPage County Sheriff's office received two similar reports involving the same described offender in the Brandywine subdivision, which is near the 1600 block of South Ardmore.

The offender was described as a black man 18-22, 5-foot-10 and 150 pounds with short black hair, wearing a red shirt and dark-colored pants.

Anyone with information should call police at (630) 834-7447 or Det. Campos at (630) 592-6162.
