PHOENIX (AP) - A 33-year-old Phoenix woman has been sentenced to probation and jail time after pleading guilty to child abuse for allowing her two young children to eat aspirin and other pills from bottles.

A Maricopa County Superior Court spokeswoman says Commissioner James Rummage sentenced Jessica Harvey to three years of supervised probation and 90 days in jail beginning Wednesday.

Phoenix police said after Harvey was arrested in May that a neighbor reported seeing Harvey's two young children eating pills from six bottles.

The neighbor stopped the children from eating the pills and went to check on Harvey, who was found unresponsive in the home.

Police said 1 of the children was found to have a life-threatening dose of aspirin in his system and his stomach had to be pumped.
