CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

After Sunday morning church service, dozens of parishioners from The Lighthouse Church of all Nations gathered outside Advocate Christ Medical Center to pray for one of their own, 5 year old Jaden Donald.

Jaden's mother Jasmine Donald has been at her son's hospital bedside since he was shot early Friday morning in Cooper Park.

"Right now he's doing good, he's stable, his vitals, everything, his blood pressure, everything is looking good," said Jasmine Donald.

FOX 32 News has learned the young boy was walking home with his family after celebrating July 4th. They were in the park less than 20 minutes.

Thirty-seven-year-old Darrell Chambers appeared in court Sunday morning after being arrested and charged with shooting Jaden and two other men.

"What person with morals and values and life would... what makes people think that this is ok," said Jasmine Donald.

Chambers is being held without bond.

"I'm so glad the police, they did whatever they had to do to get justice for my baby, I'm loss for words… You would never think for a moment that being at a park, playing with your kids that you have to worry about them being shot," said Jasmine Donald.

"I stood at the bedside of this little boy, 5 years old, on a respirator, with a bullet that has taken out his spleen, his pancreas, taken out a kidney and laying there while the ventilators are pumping him and yet we spoke life to him, his family with me spoke life," said Dan Willis, Pastor of The Lighthouse Church of All Nations.

Family and church members describe a little boy who loves Spiderman and Sunday school.

"Just a little sweetie pie and it's so sad that all this has happened because it always seems like it happens to the good ones you know, it's really a shame. We miss him so much, we're praying for his healing," said Rachel Cole.

"The support that you all are giving me is what's helping me stay as strong as I am," said Jasmine Donald.
