Red Cross opens center for Yarnell residents

YARNELL, Ariz. (AP) - The American Red Cross will use a Yarnell church as the site for a new facility to help residents of the Arizona town returning to their community after the Yarnell Hill fire.

The Red Cross says its recovery center opening Monday will be located in the Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church. Meanwhile, Red Cross shelters at Prescott and Wickenburg high schools will remain open for overnight stays.

Yarnell are being allowed to return a week after they were evacuated due to the fire. It killed 19 Hotshot firefighters and destroyed more than 100 structures.

According to the Red Cross, the recovery center will provide meals, snacks and water along with ice, cleaning supplies and other essentials.

Caseworkers, nurses and mental health volunteers will be available to help with residents' needs.

Be sure to label donations to direct them to Yarnell.
Any volunteers wanting to help with clean up will be able to enter on Wednesday morning and will need to check in with the Red Cross, upon entering the town.
