Thieves Swipe Copper From Elementary School In Montco

A summertime burglary and theft of metal items is being investigated at an elementary school in Montgomery County, police say.

The theft from Inglewood Elementary School, located at 1313 Allentown Road, occurred sometime between July 4 at 3 p.m. and July 5, according to the Towamencin Township Police Department.

The burglars got inside the North Penn School District building through an unsecured area that is currently under construction.

Ten 20-foot long copper pipes, 18 brass-ball valves, 100 copper fittings, and five reels of 2,500 foot solid #12 copper wire were all reported stolen, police said.

The reels of copper wire are estimated to be worth $1,200. The value of the other items is still being determined.
