'Treasures of the Hard Rock' exhibit comes to downtown Phoenix

Get up close and personal with historic rock-and-roll items at the Hard Rock Cafe from Friday to Tuesday.

"Treasures of the Hard Rock" has been traveling around the country to bring music memorabilia to fans.

Many of the iconic pieces are from two of Hard Rock's one-of-a-kind collections: "Gone Too Soon" and "Music Gives Back."

Must see items:

  • Pink dress Amy Winehouse wore during the Nelson Mandela tribute concert in 2008
  • Pete Townshend's guitar (The Hard Rock's second piece of memorabilia ever)
  • Gown Shakira wore on stage during her 2006 tour
  • Outfit worn on stage by Whitney Houston in the '90s
  • Wallet recovered from the wreckage of Buddy Holly's plane belonging to his guitarist Tommy Allsup
  • Steven Tyler's skin-tight, black and white striped stage-worn outfit

"We have spent nearly two years, scouring our 77,000 piece collection, to pull together a collection that will wow our guests," said Jeff Nolan, Hard Rock Historian and tour curator. "The collection showcases a unique part of music history and gives fans an opportunity to see that history first-hand."
