DETROIT (WJBK) -

A popular dee jay gunned down at a Detroit nightclub back in December. The main suspect is a Detroit Firefighter. But he is not in jail, nor has he even been to court. The victim's family thinks that's wrong, and they're speaking out.

Watch Amy Lange's full video report above.

Latonya Jackson won't rest until her brother's killer is locked up. At the end of December, 41 year old Tony Jackson, a dee jay at the Four Winds Lounge on Schoolcraft, was shot an killed after an altercation at the club with a Detroit firefighter. But that firefighter has not been charged with a crime.

"I need to know what is going on. It's been 6 months! This is unbelievable. I know we got a lot going on in Detroit, but still, I have a brother that's deceased and was murdered," Jackson explained to us.

Fox 2 has learned that the firefighter was suspended without pay after the shooting happened. He then returned to the department, then went out on medical. He was also shot in the dispute and claimed self-defense, but sources say witnesses and evidence dispute that claim. There is also surveillance video of the crime.

The prosecutor's office released the following statement:
"We have been in contact with the family in this case.  Although there is a video tape in this case that does not mean that we are able to just charge the case based on that alone.  We are actively working with the Detroit Police because the case remains in the investigative stage. We are making progress and once the investigation is completed we will review the case to make a charging decision."
