Driver flown to hospital after crashing into tree in Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A motorist had to be flown to a hospital via a Flight for Life helicopter after they crashed into a tree in north suburban Northbrook Wednesday morning.

The crash happened about 5:10 a.m. at Commercial Avenue and Huel Road, police said.

The driver crashed into a tree and was taken from the scene by a Flight for Life helicopter, police said. The condition of the driver was not immediately known.

Only one vehicle was involved in the crash, according to police.

Traffic was rerouted around the site of the crash for a while Wednesday morning, but by about 8:45 a.m. the roads were reopened, police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
