Legendary Atlanta broadcaster Ray Moore passes away

ATLANTA -

The FOX 5 family and the Atlanta community are mourning the death of legendary broadcaster Ray Moore.

For five decades, Moore reported on some of the most important events in the history of Atlanta and the southeast.

Ray joined WAGA in the 1970s, where he reported and co-anchored our evening newscasts.

He reported from in front of Atlanta Constitution editor Reg Murphy's home when the newsman was kidnapped and a ransom was paid to win his release.

Ray's reputation and hard work earned him a number of big interviews. Viewers loved his sensitivity and wit and respected his deep knowledge.

Ray Moore died on Tuesday just short of his 91st birthday,

A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur.
