Yarnell Hill Wildfire: 1 month later

Posted: Updated:
YARNELL, Ariz. -

It's not just the families of the fallen firefighters suffering from the effects of the Yarnell Hill Fire. Hundreds of people lost their homes when flames swept through the mountain town.

But despite the devastation, the people who live in Yarnell are thinking about the future.

The Glen Aialha neighborhood in Yarnell is home to Chuck Overmyer. He and his wife lost their home and everything they owned in the fire.

"It came through the garage and then right through the house but all of the stucco has no beams, it collapsed on what remained," says Chuck Overmyer.

The Yarnell Fire hopscotched through the neighborhood, burning one house and leaving another untouched by flames.

Chuck mourned the loss of his home and is planning on a new home.

"A log cabin would look good up here and so we sent off for some plans."

Many organizations like Samaritan's Purse and Billy Graham's Rapid Response Team, based at the Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church, are helping people rebuild -- bringing in everything from bulldozers to bottles of water.

These trailers and RVs are here on loan for folks who lost their homes and it's turned out to be a plus for them.

They can stay on their land in the RV while they rebuild.

Some of the fire victims are four legged. Gidget needs a new home -- her owner lost everything. A local veterinarian is turning her office into a shelter.

"You just have to, these are our friends, these are our neighbors, they need our help," says Dr. Kate McCoullough

That's how Yarnell will bounce back -- neighbors helping neighbors.
