Study: Where you live can affect your online dating life

Updated:
PHOENIX -

You may be looking for love in all the wrong places, or at least in the wrong city.

Where you live can actually play a role in your love life.

Online dating is one of the most popular ways to meet someone and it seems like there really is a website for everyone.

There's Match.com, Eharmony.com, Plentyofish.com and some more niche options: SeaCaptainDate.com is for people who love the ocean, FarmersOnly.com is for country folks and there's even an online dating site just for cat lovers, Purrsonals.com.

So whatever you're looking for, there's someone out there for you.

But where you live could play a role in your love life.

A new  online study says some valley cities are better than others when it comes to finding love online.

Arizona singles have a better chance of finding love based on where they live, according to the online dating site, Plenty of Fish.

The site found that of all the cities in Arizona, people in Glendale, Mesa and Chandler have the best chance of finding love online.

For men, Glendale is the place to be.

"It is the top city in Arizona where men are more likely to find relationship online and number five city in the US. Glendale is more of a suburban area, people tend to have a harder time meeting people in suburban areas. They're commuting back and forth and are not socializing as much. They're fewer singles in suburban areas so they tend to revert to online dating," said Sarah Gooding, product manager for Plenty of Fish.

Ladies, if you're looking for love, head to the east valley.

"Mesa is the top city in Arizona where single women find relationships online and Chandler doesn't fall too far on the list as well. Chandler's a great city for both men and women when it comes to finding relationships online," said Gooding.

The study also found that Tempe has the highest number of singles who have never been married.

But, about 30 percent of single women living in Tempe want children.

If you live in Scottsdale, you're less likely to travel for love and will try to find someone who lives less than 25 miles away.

But that's not the case in Tucson.

Women there are willing to travel more than 100 miles to meet a single guy.

So if you're still looking for love, there are plenty of fish left in the Arizona sea, you just have to know where to look.

"It's a great place to settle down and start a family. If you're single, there are lots of areas to have fun and socialize and meet new people," said Gooding.
