Watch your shark and eat it too


Take a bite out of Shark Week with exotic specials at Sandbar Mexican Grill.

From August 4 to August 11, Sandbar locations will have shark tacos, $4 Shark Bite Shots and specially priced "Shark" beers.

Sandbar Mexican Grill


Tomatillo and arbol chile salsa

3/4 lb                                    tomatillos 

½ ea                                       serrano chile

2-3 ea                                    garlic cloves

10 ea                                      arbol chiles

½ oz                                       canola oil

½ lb                                        roma tomatoes, diced

¼  tsp                                     cumin

2 tbsp                                    cilantro, chopped

6 oz                                        red onion, small dice

2 ea                                        green onions, thinnly sliced

½                                             lime, juiced

1 tbsp                          agave nectar or honey

1 tsp                                      salt

pinch                                     black pepper


Turn on oven to broil.

Place tomatillos, serranos and garlic on sheet pan and place on top rack in oven.

Roast until top of tomatillos are black, about 7 minutes.

Cool roasted tomatillos, serranos and garlic in refrgerator.

Saute arbol chiles lightly in oil, about 1 minute, remove chiles.

Place roasted tomatillos, serranos, garlic and arbol chiles in food processor and pulse until pureed.

Add remaining ingredients and blend and let marinate in refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Shark Tacos

5 -6 oz Mako Shark sliced thin

Flour-As needed

Beer Batter-Note add 2 more tablespoons of Blackening Spice

Nappa Cabbage

Arbol Salsa

Chipotle Tartar

3 Tortillas


1. Flour Mako Shark Pieces in Flour

2. Dip Mako into Beer Batter and Deep Fry and place on tortillas

3.Place ¼ oz of Chipotle Tartar Sauce on Fish – mayo, chipotle

4. Mix Chipotle Tartar with Cabbage (Like Baja Taco)

5. Top each Taco with 2 TBS Salsa and Lime Wedge
