CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A report from TMZ says a finalist on "MasterChef" was arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer in a strange, violent confrontation at the University of Chicago.

Reportedly, Josh Marks, 26, was seen on campus using an emergency phone when cops noticed wounds on his face. When approached to see if he was okay, Marks attacked the officer, punching him and then attempting to grab his gun.

According to TMZ, three officers tried to take Marks down by using batons and pepper spray but neither had an effect on the 7'2'' top culinary contender. Eventually, with the help of two more officers, they were able to restrain Marks.

During questioning in the hospital, Marks claimed the reason for his bizarre behavior was because of "MasterChef" host Gordon Ramsay. He called Ramsey an "a**hole" and blamed him for possessing his body and transforming him into God.

TMZ says there was no evidence of drug use.

Marks has been charged with two felonies: battery on a peace officer and attempting to disarm a peace officer.
