Kim Goldman: I Get To Use My Experience To Impact Teens

Posted: Updated:

"Hearing his name and seeing his face obviously brings up a lot of painful memories and feelings". That's Kim Goldman, sister of the late Ron Goldman, talking about the chance that OJ Simpson could be walking the streets in a few years. "Knowing that he has the opportunity to be released on parole in a couple years is difficult."

Kim stopped by Good Day LA Friday to talk about her organization that helps troubled teens and promote an upcoming fundraiser. "Our world gets very heavy and our kids are struggling and I think when you get an opportunity to laugh and have some levity that it makes everybody feel better". Goldman hopes that laughter will help raise money for her charity at The Second Annual "Comics for the Cause" event Tuesday night at the Performing Arts Center in Valencia. Some of the familiar funny faces taking part are Billy Gardell, star of the smash sitcom "Mike & Molly", Ralph Harris and Jon Reep.

Goldman says doing something for those in pain does her a lot of good too. "It helps me have an authentic heart and to stay focused forward...keeping my heart and my mind pure and clean is really good".

Fun Facts About Kim Goldman:

  • She is the Executive Director of the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project; a non-profit organization that provides peer mentoring, crisis intervention, support groups and education and outreach to teenagers in the Santa Clarita Valley.
  • Goldman has been working in the non-profit sector for the better part of a decade.
  • She is an accomplished writer and also a contributor for The Ricki Lake Show and most recently for Huffington Post.
  • Goldman was most recently honored as one of 40 under 40 Leaders by the SCV Business Journal and received 2nd place honors in SCV's Dancing With Our Stars, 2010, raising thousands of dollars for charity and was recognized as a Non-Profit Leader.
