PEORIA, Ariz. -

A Glendale woman is facing felony counts of child abuse after police say she neglected her daughters.

On Saturday, the pastor of a church in Peoria called police after the 7- and 12-year-old daughters of Cynthia Heitz were dropped off there by a friend and left alone for some time.

Police contacted the woman, but by the time they showed up to her apartment with the girls, Heitz was gone.

Detectives say the apartment located near 67th and Olive Avenues was infested with bed bugs and that the girls had insect bites on their bodies. There was rotting food and trash. The girls were dirty and hadn't eaten.

Records show CPS previously removed the girls from the home.

Police arrested Heitz Sunday. Her boyfriend told investigators she uses methamphetamine.
