Posted: Updated:

Police are looking for two men who tried to lure a young teenage girl walking in the Lower West Side Monday afternoon.

The 14-year-old girl was walking east in the 1600 block of West 18th Street about 4 p.m. Monday when a black pickup truck approached and one of two Hispanic men inside asked her to come to the vehicle so he could take her picture, according to a community alert from Area Central detectives.

The girl continued walking, but the truck followed her to the 1700 block of South Laflin Street, where one of the men exited the vehicle, police said.

The girl ran to a crowd of people near 17th Street and the man got back in the truck, which sped off westbound on 16th Street, police said.

The passenger is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s with an olive complexion and short brown hair, police said. He is about 5-foot-6 and 170 pounds.

The driver is only described as a Hispanic man in his 30s.

The truck was as a smaller black pickup with a cracked passenger side mirror, tinted side windows and a white tarp over the flatbed, police.

Anyone with information about the men should call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
