CrossFit crushes

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Between reps and sprints, sparks can fly at the gym. But one workout in particular is getting a reputation as a place where you can easily pick up more than just some really heavy weights: CrossFit.

Eric von Frohlich owns EVF Performance, a CrossFit gym on the Upper East Side. He said so-called CrossFit crushes are very common. The workout has become an international cult favorite among those who want to push themselves to the max. But it's also a place where members are forced to interact. It seems that is leading to love connections.

"It's not where you're kind of going into a gym and you know getting into treadmill, doing your own thing, or going into a dark spin room where no one is going to talk to you," says Julia Zygnerski of Evf Performance.

While many cross fitters are meeting at the actual gym, many more are going online to find their perfect match. A slew of dating sites devoted exclusively to CrossFitters has sprung up on the web. On xfitdate.com, which is not sponsored by the official CrossFit brand, members can even post videos of themselves showing off their moves to attract like-minded dates.

So if you needed another incentive to hit the gym, this could be it. But if this looks like just too much work for a date, well, there's always a bar open somewhere.
