As training camps roll on and players fight through the heat and humidity of two-a-days, we take a look at how a couple of teams beat the heat back in the day.

TAPE: SP-482  DATE: 8-31-85 SLUG: JACKETS AT WHITE WATER TIMECODE: 1:50

The first video is of the 1985 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. In order to give his players a break between camp and the regular season, coach Bill Curry took the Jackets to White Water. There is a great shot of Curry soaking in the sun, and another of some of the players in the water.

Current Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Ted Roof, then a senior, played linebacker for the Ramblin' Wreck that year.  He was also co-captain, and would go on to earn first team All-ACC honors.

This year, Roof is back for a second stint as the defensive coordinator for Tech. Wonder if he'll let his boys out for a little fun before their August 31st showdown with Elon?

TAPE: SP-318  DATE: 8-29-90 SLUG: UGA WATERMELON DAY TIMECODE: 20:00

The second video is the Georgia Bulldogs annual tradition of celebrating the end of camp, the watermelon cuttin'. Ray Goff's 1990 squad celebrated.the same way Mark Richt's 2013 edition will on Saturday. The star of the Bulldog video is running back Garrison Hearst. The Lincolnton native digs right in and according to his sound bite the sweet treat hits the spot.
