BUCKEYE, Ariz. -

Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead at a farm near Broadway Road and Jackrabbit Trail.

Just before 5 a.m. Friday, police received a call about the shooting.

"The shooter was actually on scene waiting for us," said Lt. Jared Griffith of the Buckeye police.  "We arrived on scene, one person deceased, and the suspect was doing just that.. waiting for us.  Very compliant."

The suspect made no effort to flee the area and disarmed himself.

Authorities say the victim is a Hispanic male, 30 to 50-years-old.

The suspect, who Buckeye police describe as a Hispanic male in his early 60s, was taken into custody.

Both the victim and suspect are farm employees.

The farm's manager called police after hearing gunshots.

"He came out to see the suspect standing out back and the suspect asked him to call the police to come get him," said Griffith.

The circumstances that led up the shooting are not known at this time.

No names have been released in this case.
