PCH awarded $75K from Hyundai Hope On Wheels

Hope on Wheels is a project that has helped people all across the country, and today it's giving back to kids right here in Phoenix.

A fun day, well deserved for many children with different types of pediatric cancers -- like 7-year-old Elizabeth. Her mom is sharing her story.

"A spunky 7-year-old girl who loves to sing and likes to paint rainbows. I am excited to share with you today that next week after 2 years of treatment, she will finish her chemotherapy," her mother, Heidi Blair, announced.

Mom says it's all because of the care and research at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Thursday, Hope on Wheels made a visit with two valley organizations to help fund needed research.

"This is a grant that Hyundai and the dealers are putting together so that we can fund this grant and its basically this month and all over the country," says Tom Scheurn, GM of San Tan Hyundai.

The Arizona Cardinals are also helping. Big Red showed up with a $75,000 check for PCH. The families here are grateful for the specialized care -- because like with Elizabeth -- you just don't know when it can happen.

"Our journey started with Elizabeth having a fall at preschool and we noticed a bruise on her forehead that just didn't seem to be getting better."

This year alone, Hyundai will generate about $14 million for more than 80 different causes. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
