TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Federal authorities say they've seized more than 6,100 pounds of marijuana in two separate incidents in southern Arizona.

U.S. Border Patrol agents responded to reports of suspected narcotics smuggling east of Douglas on Tuesday afternoon.

Two Mexican men were arrested and a search of their pickup truck turned up more than 1,500 pounds of marijuana, valued at $777,000.  The vehicle was seized and the narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The names of the two arrested men weren't immediately released Wednesday.

A short time later, agents from the Nogales Station came across an abandoned van near the Mexico border.

They say 189 bundles of marijuana weighing more than 4,600 pounds were found inside the vehicle. The marijuana is valued at more than $2.3 million.  Both the vehicle and the marijuana were seized and transported to the Nogales Station for further processing according to Tucson Sector guidelines.
