PHOENIX -

A man wanted for speeding and attempting to hit a patrol vehicle was arrested by DPS officers following a car and foot chase Friday.

Officers tackled the suspect at 39th Ave and Grant after he got out of his van and started running.

This first started on SR51 and Bethany Home Road when officers tried to stop a Chevy van that was speeding.

The van didn't pull over -- instead the driver tried to ram a patrol car. At that point, a pursuit was initiated that went on for about 25 minutes.

He led police onto I-10 and then I-17, and eventually into the neighborhood where it all ended.

It's unclear why the man fled. He's been identified as Aaron Compton, 30 years old. He's facing charges of aggravated DUI, unlawful flight, aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
