SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (myFOXDetroit.com) -

In a city with still no official results in the primary election for its next Mayor, many are getting antsy. But the results may come as soon as next Tuesday, August 27.

The State Board of Canvassers is meeting Tuesday morning at 10:30AM.

It was called in after the Wayne County Board of Canvassers voted to not certify the election results. This vote coming after a dispute of how the votes were counted, with officials said to have used a numerical counting system instead of the regulated hash-mark tallying system.

Now state officials will decide if those 18,000 votes that were tallied incorrectly will still count.

Early reports said Mike Duggan took the lead, but depending on what the state decides, Benny Napoleon could be the number one vote-getter.

Either way, come election time in November, the race will still be between Duggan and Napoleon.
