Hikers hit the trail for unusually cool day

PHOENIX -

Arizona saw a few sprinkles, clouds, and a lower than average high Sunday.

Not everyone seemed to mind the cloudy dreary day, including some hikers we caught up with enjoying a break from the heat.

Eva Camacho hiked Piestewa Peak. During normal summer temperatures, she has to get up at 5 a.m. to enjoy the mountain.

"I'm just taking advantage of it now that the temperature is so nice," she says.

Some hikers said it was the busiest they've seen it all summer.

Temperatures were in the upper 80s and the cloud coverage helped to keep outdoor enthusiasts cool.

We also caught some people splashing in the puddles at the park near 35th Ave and Sweetwater.

"We ended up at the park. We decided we'd have some fun playing in the water and chasing the ducks that are out here too playing, and it's just so unusual for Arizona to have this kind of weather in August that we had to take full advantage of it," says Cindy Porter.

There is rain in the forecast for several other days this week.
