The ASU assistant athletics director for recruiting is facing felony aggravated assault charges after police say he beat up his wife.

Officers arrested Sherman Morris last week. According to court documents, he got into an argument with his wife in Chandler.

He's accused of choking her by putting his arm around her neck from behind, and lifting her off the ground.

Detectives say he then punched her in the mouth, breaking a tooth and damaging her dentures, and then punched her in the back of the neck.

The woman's adult son broke up the fight.

Morris has been placed on administrative leave.
