PHILADELPHIA -

Little Casai's mother and father are afraid to leave his side at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Casai suffered head trauma from a hit-and-run accident. His parents say that he's not doing well. His family wonders who would hit a five year old kid and then keep going.

A silver, mid-2000s four door Cadillac with chrome wheels in front is what police believe is responsible for putting the five-year-old bundle of joy in the hospital.

Police say that just before seven on Saturday night, Casai West was riding a bike through the intersection at 59th and Cedar in Cobb's Creek. According to investigators, the Cadillac had the green light when it plowed into the five-year-old boy. He rolled off the hood of the car into the street. Family member Anthony Russell was with Casai when the accident happened.

"The car ran him over," says Anthony Russell.

Unfortunately, Casai's no longer smiling like he is in pictures. He suffered trauma to the head from the collision. Family members say that he was just enjoying a night of fun before school starts on Monday.

By phone, his mother expressed to FOX 29 concern about the his breathing and the severity of his injuries.

"Like any mother would, she's not doing good. We're just hoping for the best," says another family member. "He's nice. Did not deserve to get hit."

Police have a vague description of the person they believe was driving the car. They say he's in his early 20s and is wearing braids. His car's front headlight is damaged.

Anyone with information is urged to call police.
