Two suspects were arrested after they allegedly kidnapped and held a husband and wife at gunpoint near McDowell and Miller Roads on Wednesday morning.

Scottsdale Police say a 23-year-old man and his 28-year-old wife were held at gunpoint by two suspects at one of the apartments at Scottsdale Park Suites.

The suspects were identified as Stephen Cannistra and Abel Sobari.

Scottsdale Police said this was all over a high-dollar loan. The victim received a loan from Cannistra two weeks ago, and when the victim failed to pay him back, Cannistra and Sobari entered the victim's apartment, held them hostage, and threatened them to give him his money back, police said.

"Our dispatchers received a call from a father and his son had been texting him this morning that he was being held against his will by two men -- one of them was armed," said Scottsdale Police Sgt. Mark Clark.

While at the victims' home, the suspects began to smoke marijuana and drink alcohol and pass out. The victims took this opportunity to escape out by jumping from the second story balcony.

Dozens of officers surrounded the apartment and set up a perimeter.

Police say Cannistra gave himself up, but Sobari refused and barricaded himself inside the apartment for hours.

Negotiators were finally able to coax him out and arrest him. Both are facing charges of kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, and drug-related counts.

No shots were fired and no one was hurt.
