More middle Ga. voters placed in wrong districts

Posted: Updated:

MACON, Ga. (AP) - Early voting problems have led some voters to question the first election for leaders of the newly-formed Macon-Bibb County consolidated government.

The Telegraph of Macon reports the number of voters who cast ballots in incorrect city-county commission races has grown to 90.

County elections officials previously said 36 early voters cast ballots in incorrect races, and that more than 1,200 voters had been placed in the wrong districts.

The early voting issues prompted an investigation by the Georgia Secretary of State's office.

Local elections board chairwoman, Rinda Wilson told the newspaper she believes the problem has been solved.

Elections supervisor Jeanetta Watson says Bibb county is the first to use the state's new voting software and some errors may be linked to programming bugs and workers learning the system.
