Panera CEO takes the SNAP challenge, lives on $4.50 a day

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Ron Shaich, the CEO of Panera Bread, is trying to see if he can live for a week on just $4.50 a day – that's $31.50 for the entire week.

He's doing it to call attention to the 48 million Americans who are on food stamps and have to live on that amount every day.

Shaich says the biggest problem with the experiment is that he has had to give up meat, fruit and vegetables.
