NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) - A pair of Big Apple Circus performers survived a crash that left a portion of their camper hanging from an overpass on Route 287 in Mahwah, N.J.

It is not clear why the large, white camper which was being towed by a pick-up truck, ended up on its side on the southbound lanes.

All southbound lanes of Route 287 were closed for hours at mile marker 66 but reopened at approximately 1 p.m.

The New Jersey State Police say the two women in the vehicle were not injured in the incident.

The circus says the women are part of an act called The Mongolian Angels.  They were heading from Orange County, N.Y. to Virginia.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
