Sources: Family of kidnapped teen has connection to suspect

Posted: Updated:

FOX 5 has learned that one of the men taken into custody in connection with the kidnapping of a Clayton County teen has a connection with the victim's family.

Ayvani Hope Perez, 14, was reunited with her family on Wednesday, 36 hours after police say she was taken at gunpoint from her family's house in Ellenwood during a home invasion.

Perez was found in Conyers around noon on Wednesday.

Two men, 40-year-old Juan Alberto Contreras-Rodriguez, a Mexican national, and 29-year-old Wildrego Jackson, of Atlanta -- were taken into custody, according to police.

Sources tell FOX 5's George Franco that Ayvani's mother, Maria Corral, was arrested in February 2012 with four other people in a marijuana sting in Stockbridge, Ga.  Charges against Corral were dropped.

One of those arrested with Corral was Juan Alberto Contreras-Ramirez.  U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials confirmed that he is Juan Alberto Contreras-Rodriguez. They did not indicate why he changed his name.

"We have not determined the relationship between those individuals at this particular point in time," said FBI Special Agent Rick Maxwell. "We have not determined the motive for this at this point."

Authorities say they are continuing to search for two other suspects in the kidnapping.
