PHOENIX -

A man is fighting for his life after he was shot during some sort of argument in the front yard of a Phoenix home.

Police say the victim actually tried to walk away from the suspect, and that's when he was shot.

This was the scene Tuesday night in front of the home near 12th St and Dunlap.

Police say the victim, a 31-year-old man, was just sitting on the front porch of the home last night when the suspect, a 37-year-old man approached him and the two started arguing.

When the victim tried to walk away, the suspect pulled out a hand gun and shot him in the back.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

The suspect took off in a getaway car but ended up threatening someone else while trying to get away.

"There was another gentleman that possibly saw the shooting or heard the shot. He then pointed the weapon at that adult male and threatened him not to call the police. And then he was seen fleeing in a vehicle," said Phoenix Police Lt. Greg Berghorst.

Luckily neighbors were able to describe the getaway car to police, so the police chopper spotted the getaway car in a nearby Fry's parking lot, and eventually arrested the suspect.

No names have been released.
