NYC #6 worst roads in nation

Posted: Updated:

The major roads in and around New York City were found to be among the worst in large cities across the country, according to a survey by the transportation research group TRIP.

The Washington, DC based organization says NYC roads rank sixth among large cities or those with populations of more than 250,000.

The impact the roads have on drivers includes additional yearly car maintenance of approximately $673.

The city with the worst roads are Los Angeles, followed by San Francisco, San Jose, San Diego and Tucson.

The survey, released on Thursday, found that the roads "provide an unacceptably rough ride to motorists."

“With state and local governments struggling to fund needed road repairs and with federal surface transportation funding set to be slashed next year, road conditions are projected to get even worse,” said Will Wilkins, TRIP’s executive director.
