Ga. tax revenue up 8.3 percent from September 2012

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has announced that the state's net tax collections for the month of September were about $132 million higher than September of 2012.

Deal said Tuesday that the uptick translates to an approximately 8.3 percent increase over September 2012 tax collections.

Deal says the increase is attributed, in part, to a $58.5 million spike in individual income tax collections since September 2012. The state collected about $885.5 million total in individual income taxes.

Corporate income taxes increased by $29.25 million, and the state collected about $179.75 million from businesses in September.

Deal says motor vehicle and tag taxes increased by about $74.5 million, and Georgia collected about $98.25 million in those fees last month.

Deal says Georgia collected a total of $1.72 billion in taxes last month.
