A woman was allegedly beaten by her ex-boyfriend while holding her 1-year-old daughter at an apartment near Broadway and Gilbert Roads on Wednesday.

A police report states Christopher Zachary Salcido went to his ex-girlfriend's apartment and started banging on the windows and doors.

When she didn't answer, Salcido allegedly jumped the wall to the patio and broke the sliding glass door with a stool.

The woman and her 1-year-old daughter were reportedly cut by flying glass.

According to a police report, Salcido went up to the woman and punched her repeatedly in the face while she was holding the little girl.

The woman ended up with a bloody nose, cuts inside her mouth and swelling to her face.

Salcido allegedly demanded money and took the only cash the woman had: about $2.

Witnesses told police they heard Salcido banging on the door, breaking the door and then heard the woman screaming.

Salcido was taken into custody Thursday and allegedly admitted to breaking into the apartment and punching the woman once or twice. He said he didn't realize she was holding the little girl in her arms.

The couple were reportedly together for eight months and Salcido told police in an interview that he's raised the woman's daughter as if she were his.

Salcido faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault, child abuse, burglary and criminal damage.
