70 people evacuated during Tucson hotel fire

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Tucson say no injuries were reported but that approximately 70 people were forced out of a hotel because of a fire in a room.

Fire Capt. Chris Jurvig says the adult, child and two dogs in the room where the fire started made it out safely and that firefighters evacuated other people in the three-story hotel.

Jurvig says the first crew to arrive found heavy black smoke coming from the room that caught fire.

The first crew fought the fire and kept it from spreading, while other firefighters evacuated people in nearby rooms.

Cause of the fire is under investigation and a damage estimate was not immediately released.

Jurvig says 28 firefighters from nine units responded.
