Apple struggles in post-Jobs era, consumers experience `Apple fatigue`

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Whether you have an iPad, iPhone or a Mac computer, Apple may be taking over your life because consumers are constantly trying to keep up with what's new.

Feeling the competition on its heels, Apple unveiled yet more products Tuesday, including the fifth generation iPad called the iPad Air. And while it's supposed to be eight times faster than the old ones--and lighter---some critics say the Apple is quickly turning brown.

iPad lovers were looking for a larger screen, higher resolution and maybe a little gold trim, similar to the stuff found on the iPhone 5S. It hit store shelves a couple of months ago and users are still trying to figure out the software update.

That may be where some of the love for Apple gets lost.

During the Steve Jobs era, the tech world loved and appreciated every computer and smartphone. Fast-forward and there's a lot of competition.

Galaxy and Android are kicking around the Apple and the worm is starting to show. In fact, recent analysis shows Android phones account for about 28 percent of the U.S. market, while iPhone stands at 25 percent, and Blackberry is down to 4 percent.

We asked our FOX 32 viewers about Apple's big unveiling Tuesday.

Kara said: "I am so sick of the Apple hype," while Freddy commented: "I've had my Mackbook over 7 years. It's finally showing it's age. Try that with a Windows machine! I'm looking forward to a new Macbook!"

Michelle added: "I think the advancement of technology is extraordinary. But keeping up with the prices ....sheez...I'm good with my cheap little blackberry phone from 5 years ago."

That new iPad is supposed to be in the Chicago area just in time for the holidays.
