Pike Nurseries: Fall centerpieces

Posted: Updated:

Centerpieces are a great way to capture the season and add warmth to any kitchen, dining room or even your outdoor patio table! Create a fall arrangement that will last weeks or even months.

Here are some tips from Pike Nurseries:

Considerations When Designing a Centerpiece

  • Think about how you will use the area
  • If putting an arrangement on a kitchen or dining room table, make sure you can see over the arrangement or that it can easily be moved
  • If it will be around food, choose something that is artificial or be sure to cover the dirt with moss

Wreaths

  • Wreaths are typically used on doors, but their shape makes them great as a centerpiece as well
  • Place a fall wreath in the center of a table and create a display that is contained in the interior of the wreath
  • Electric candles are a great option
  • They look real and have a on/off timer switch, so you don't have to worry about them being a fire hazard

Houseplant Arrangement

  • Make an arrangement with houseplants
  • It will give you fresh flowers that will last months
  • Choose plants with similar light needs – a Pike Associate can help
  • Choose several plants that coordinate in their leaf size, shape or color
  • Be sure to place a saucer or cork stand under the arrangement to protect your table from water

Flower Tower

  • If you're having company over and are planning a buffet, use additional pots to create extra height
  • You can dress up your flower tower for the season by adding real or artificial pumpkins & gourds around the saucer

Fall Picks

  • Dress up existing houseplants, container gardens or empty pots with fall picks
  • Don't be afraid to cut or bend the long stems to make them your desired height
