Javier Bardem: Great Cast, Great Dialogue & Great Scenes

Posted: Updated:

For Javier Bardem. it's another movie written by Cormac McCarthy (No Country For Old Men) and another crazy hairdo.

Bardem won a supporting-actor Oscar as the deranged hit man in No Country, and he's also getting great reviews for this one, The Counselor."

"In No Country, I was the hunter — Anton Chigurh is the worst force of destiny you could think of," Bardem says. "Now I am the hunted. In a very different world."

Bardem's character gets in way over his head with a drug cartel, along with a respected lawyer (Michael Fassbender) engaged to a beautiful woman (Bardem's real-life wife, Penelope Cruz).

"There are links to No Country here," Bardem tells USA Today. "It's the same author. And there are consequences and lies and human nature at its worst."

Oh, and that hair.  When Scott sent Bardem the script for "The Counselor," Bardem says he was immediately inspired to create a look that's nearly as outlandish as his appearance in No Country. That meant adopting splashy, expensive clothes, opulent sunglasses ("he changes the color depending on his mood, and it brings a detachment"), and crazy, spiked hair.

Javier speaks with Steve Edwards and Maria Sansone on Good Day LA.
