Body Found Shocks Quiet Town; Police Need Help IDing Body

HADDONFIELD, N.J. -

Investigators in Camden County have a mystery on their hands after a pair of joggers found a body in a marsh area. Police need the public's help to identify the body.

FOX 29's Kelly Hessedal was in Haddonfield on Monday. It was clear that the normally quiet town of Haddonfield is concerned.

It was a shock. This is far from normal near Narberth and Merion where neighbors crowded the crime tape with lots of questions.

Police say it was around 5:00 p.m that two joggers found a man's body in a marsh near a jogging trail behind their neighborhood. He was face down, and one of the joggers spotted his foot.

Police say he had been there for at least two days. His body was badly decomposed. The man did have ten to eleven stab wounds on his body, but further autopsy revealed that all those wounds had been treated and are not believed to have contributed to his death.

Crews recovered his body around 8:30p.m. The Medical Examiner's Office is now determining the cause of death. Toxicology reports are also pending.

Although police are investigating this as a suspicious death, they believe this was an isolated incident and not a random killing.

The man has distinctive tattoos on his arms. Police need the public's help in identifying the man. Pictures of those tattoos are attached. One tattoo reads "DJ REG" and is decorated with musical notes, turntables and flames. Another tattoo on the man reads "Princess #1 MOM" and has a crown over the first "M" in "MOM." Finally, a third tattoo reads "Gamble" and is surrounded by dice, flames and a skull.

Furthermore, police describe him as a light-skinned black male, five feet, seven inches to five feet, eight inches tall, weighing 130 to 140 pounds, in his early 20s.

Police will be stepping up patrols in the area to put neighbor's minds at ease.

Anyone with information should contact Camden County Prosecutor's Office Detective Chuck Farrell at (856) 225-8400 or email information to ccpotips@ccprosecutor.org.
